Philippe Druillet was born in 1944 in Toulouse. He is a complete artist, protean and precursor in many fields.
As early as 1966, the creation of Lone Sloane's character marks a break in the landscape of the world comics. With the wire of publications (The Night, Delirius, Yragaël, Urm the madman, Salammbô ...) and shocks of brightness remained famous (With Jean Giraud / Moëbius, it slams the door of the newspaper "Pilot" in 1974 to become one the founders of "Métal Hurlant" and the publishing house Les Humanoïdes Associés), it will explode the traditional frameworks of the BD medium, and will durably influence several generations of authors.
But his talents do not stop there: since his beginnings, Druillet always liked to take the bridges between the different forms of artistic expression. He has thus successfully explored fields as diverse as photography - his first profession - painting, sculpture, opera-rock, architecture or computer graphics. In 1996, he directed the short film in computer graphics, The Battle of Salammbô, multimedia show. In 2005, he designed all the sets of the televised miniseries Les Rois Maudits by Josée Dayan. Among many awards, he was honored in 1988 with the Grand Prix of the City of Angoulême, and was elevated to the rank of Commander of Arts and Letters in 1998.
